Organizations are often looking for ways to cut costs and raise more funds. Having worked with over 150 charitable organizations, I have found that there are three questions that that can serve as a starting point for progress;

  1. Do your staff, volunteers, donors and board have a clear sense and passionate view of organizational mission and vision?
  2. Is your board empowered to provide the organization with strong leadership in the areas of governance, giving, ambassadorship and consulting?
  3. Are your fundraising and public relations efforts establishing real growth?

There are at least three specific action steps that can help an organization in an effort to strengthen its position in the community particularly during economic crisis.

  • Have a clear strategic vision of where your organization is going and why.
  • Establish a comprehensive fund-raising volunteer and media relations effort that educates the public about the importance of your agency.
  • Recruit, train and encourage a board of directors that is dedicated to the fulfillment of mission.

The programs that follow address these three areas and are designed to be implemented quickly putting available resources to work for growth.
